Zero Copy Connectors are part of ServiceNow Workflow Data Fabric. ServiceNow describes them as a way to “securely fetch real-time data from external sources without copying it into your instance”, so workflows and AI agents can use data that stays where it lives.

How they work

You create a zero copy connection to a data source, then connect a data fabric table to it. Workflows and AI agents on your instance can then read that data in real time, without importing it, storing it twice or keeping copies in step.

What they’re good for

Bringing reference or analytical data into your workflows: for example, contract details, usage figures or anything else held in another data platform, available the moment a workflow or agent needs it.

What they don’t do

Zero Copy Connectors are built to read data. They aren’t designed to keep two ticketing processes in step. When you and a customer or supplier both work the same incident, each in your own system, every update has to reach the other side, in order, and be confirmed. That’s eBonding: a two-way integration between processes, not a view of someone else’s data.

Using both

The two fit together. Use Zero Copy Connectors to look up data that lives elsewhere, and an eBonding app such as Unifi to keep tickets in step with the companies you work with.
