Every inbound integration reaches into your instance, to read data or to write it: a monitoring tool raising incidents, a supplier updating a case, an AI agent looking up a record. Controlling access means deciding how much of your instance each one can reach, and being able to see what each one does.
Standard routes in
ServiceNow’s Table API exposes tables over REST, with access controlled through roles and access controls. Scripted REST APIs let you define your own endpoints in code. Both are powerful, but each new integration means either opening up tables or having developers build and maintain another endpoint.
AI agents raise the stakes
ServiceNow’s Action Fabric covers MCP (Model Context Protocol) and agent-to-agent connections, so AI agents can discover and use what an instance exposes. The more that connects, human or not, the more it matters that each one sees only what it needs.
API management platforms
ServiceNow Workflow Data Fabric lists Boomi API Management, which provides full lifecycle API governance, security and analytics through a cloud-based platform integrated with ServiceNow.
Governed APIs on the instance itself
Easy API, coming soon, builds governed APIs on your ServiceNow instance with no code. Each one can match the Table API, and every request is tracked, so you can see who reached what. The Table API itself can stay switched off.
